Pump bottle spout

Image
Week 2: Creating pump bottle spout 1. used the top curve from the first body as reference when creating swept boss, the second body (where the soap goes) became too long So created another sketch on the front plane as reference instead. 2. Couldn't extrude the second cylinder for who knows what reason Did everything (bottom and top cylinder) again and magically worked well. 3. Learned about the "Leaders" under Dimensions property manager (never bothered about anything else other than inserting values to give dimensions) 4. Learned to create threads Couldn't insert threads, googled for solution Went to settings>file location>show location for "thread profiles">select location>okay. And it failed again n again n again. Then I pressed reset. the file locations updated from "Solidworks 2017" to "2018" repeat again, problem solved. 5. Learned to not pressing "merge result...

Year 2 Week 1: Cylindrical shape

Image
1: Sketching I started sketching by referring to the drawing but there is some parts on the drawing that I couldn't understand. I looked at the demo video to find those parts and followed those steps. I also learnt to use "Splint" and "point" when sketching (don't think I've used them before this) 2:Resolve Nothing much, just the usual hours and hours of struggling. 3: Circular pattern  I sketched an complete shape, used circular sketch patterns, and extruded the whole thing and then realise it doesn't look like the drawing. (extruded ones looked like square teeth but they should be curved U shape) So I deleted everything and sketched just half of the shape, revolved it and then make circular patterns. I think I done it right this time.

Appearance, decal, photoview 360, keyshot.

I wanted my lego man model to look exactly (or similarly) like the real minifigure. So, I used drew my own decals using illustrator, saved as eps file, and then save as jpg file with photoshop. I applied the decals to the model assembly at part level, but could not map it naturally on to the faces but when I tried applying decal on the parts (head and torso) I could map on "face" as I wanted. I applied the materials and colours and textures to the legoman minifigure and tried to use photoview 360 to create photorealistic renderings. Followed all the steps in the tutorial to edit scenes, add camera, adjust lightings and angles and all that, pressed preview window and then saw black lines on the head and hand. The lines appeared in integrated preview and final render too. To fix this I tried everything that I could think of: check for lines on image, Google for solutions, using decals provided in learnonline, render with another computer, shrinking the decal image size,...

Legoman packaging box and the assemblies.

Image
Just following the tutorial videos step by step. Wish I knew this sheet metal function before the cardboard chair project earlier this semester. After creating the box I mated them together with the general assembly of legoman minifigure. Had to adjust the angle of the arm so that it doesn't stick out of the box. When I created the general assembly I checked the interference and adjusted the dimensions of some parts so that they did not crash into each other (at least for most of them).

Legoman's waist

Image
Its been a busy week so I'll skip explaining all the steps... its very straight forward with all the basic tools. I created half of the waist and then mirrored it afterward. Did not face any big problem for this, just a lot of try and errors.
